WHY USE ORGANIC COTTON

organic cotton for a sustainable future

Throughout the past years, we have noted an awareness of pollution produced by the textile industry and the deplorable working conditions that can be encountered in certain workshops. We are aware that consumers are paying more and more attention to their consumption and ecological footprint ; that's why we launched a collection made with eco-responsible fabrics, such as organic cotton. Why choose organic cotton over classic cotton? Discover in this article the different advantages of choosing organic.

IMPACTFUL NUMBERS

The industry of classic cotton is the SECOND MOST POLLUTING industry in the world behind that of oil.

Traditional cotton is one of the most TOXIC crops on the planet.

It takes over 2,700 LITRES OF WATER to make ONE conventional cotton t-shirt and almost 11,000 LITRES to make a pair of jeans.

Global consumption of non-organic cotton releases about 220 MILLIONS TONNES of greenhouse gas into our atmosphere each year.

Why did we choose organic cotton?

01. Better protection of the environment

One of the biggest benefits of organic cotton is respecting the environment. Indeed, organic cotton cultivation does not use any toxic product and therefore does not exhaust the soil. It does not harm the biodiversity of the animal species that live in the surroundings. No pesticides, insecticides or herbicides are used ; organic cotton is grown with methods and materials that reduce the impact on our planet.

02. Less water consumption

Organic soils are much richer in organic matter because pesticides are not used. In addition, toxic products for cultivating soils require a certain amount of water to dilute them, which is not the case for organic cotton plants.

03. Better working conditions for farmers

Studies have shown that the pesticides used for the cultivation of traditional cotton have negative impacts on the health of those who handle them, i.e. the farmers, but also on the inhabitants who live in the regions where it is cultivated. These harmful products spread through the soil and water, causing health problems for the inhabitants of these often poor regions.

04. Better for the skin

Organic cotton is the best choice for people with sensitive skin, allergies, and chemical sensitivities.

05. Better textile quality

Organic cotton has particularly strong fibers, which makes it possible to create particularly robust and durable clothes. The fibers of conventional cotton are damaged by the use of toxic products.
